The End of Summer

Summer is, by far, my favorite season of the year.

I love the hot weather, I love swimming and going to the beach and I love all outdoor activities.  This summer was a great one, full of learning to drive standard, spending time at the beach, spending time with family, traveling to Banff, hiking, concerts, Stampede, late night movies with friends, biking, soccer, and much more.  Our summer was well spent, and I'm sad to see it go, as always.

It's now September, and the weather so far has been fantastic, but let's face it, it's Calgary and winter could start next week for all we know, so it's all about taking advantage of the good weather while we've got it.

This picture sums up what I think a perfect summer should be:

But even as I mourn the passing on of summer, like I'm saying goodbye to an old friend, I look forward to fall, even if it's only because I love fall colours and fall fashions (I'm scouring the internet right now looking for the perfect boots).  Goodbye shorts, hello layers and jeans and sweaters and jackets and scarves, and cozy days curled up with a blanket sipping hot chocolate.
